The wide array of non-contact, boxing-based workouts aim to help individuals with PD to manage their symptoms and help them live a more independent life. Parkinson's boxing therapy classes are a great way to stay in shape and live a more complete life!
The mission of Rock Steady Boxing is to empower participants and improve the quality of life of people with Parkinson's disease through a non-contact, boxing-based fitness curriculum. Our mission is to empower people with Parkinson's disease to "fight back"!
Rock Steady Boxing assessments are available by appointment!
Participants will need to call and request an assessment once they are cleared by their medical provider for Rock Steady Boxing. During this assessment, our trainer will take the time to listen to the participant's story, answer questions, and explain how the program works. This assessment process will take approximately one hour.
- The participant will meet with a Rock Steady Boxing trainer at a mutually convenient time with the least amount of interruptions and no other classes.
- Caretaker assistance is suggested to assist with paperwork, possible balance or communication issues, and to learn about Rock Steady Boxing procedures, scheduling, etc.
- The participant should wear something comfortable.
- The physician assessment forms are available online and at the YMCA Front Desk. These forms will also be available via email by contacting Lindsay at lfronk@hornellymca.com.
